Jesus - Our Desire, Our Joy

Jesus - Our Desire, Our Joy

on Jun 05, 2026
God has designed us with an innate desire to praise Him. Our praise to God will naturally resound when life is smiling at us. But we live in a broken world, and we have to deal with the issues of this world – a devastating medical diagnosis, the loss of a job, a child who has succumbed to substance abuse, or the loss of a loved one. When these distressing circumstances overwhelm us, we are often paralysed and unable to praise Him. We quite frankly don’t see any reason to praise Him.

Praise That Opens Prison Doors

Praise That Opens Prison Doors

on Jun 04, 2026
There’s something that happens inside of us when our praises ring out to God in word or in song. Something shifts in our souls when we remind ourselves of who God is. His omnipotence, His authority, His splendour. His glory. His power. We remind ourselves that He is in control, and no matter what we are going through, there is nothing He cannot handle. The Word encourages us to praise the Lord at all times.

Our Prayers - God’s Answers

Our Prayers - God’s Answers

on Jun 03, 2026
Isn’t it amazing how we can sometimes have the answer to our prayers even before God has provided His answers? We become thoroughly convinced that this is the only way God should be answering our prayers. If He doesn’t, then surely He isn’t God. At least the God that we think He ought to be. But is this God that we have neatly packaged in a box with a fancy ribbon really God, the sovereign God who does as He pleases? Not because He is a cruel God, but quite the opposite - a God who loves us deeply, knows us intimately and, in His infinite wisdom, does what is best for us.

Christ our Victor

Christ our Victor

on Jun 02, 2026
When we sing the words to this song, we proclaim our praises to the Most High, the King of the ages. We declare that there is no other God above Him. We declare that He is the most supreme being, the Great I Am, who is able to do miracles for us, His people. We are called His people because Jesus Christ has redeemed us through His blood, having died on the cross for us and risen again in victory.

The Art of Thriving – The Well That Never Dries

The Art of Thriving – The Well That Never Dries

on May 31, 2026
“If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” Then Jesus told her, “I am the Messiah! John 4:10,14,26 (NLT)

My Soul Will Sing - Treasures of Joy & Hope

My Soul Will Sing - Treasures of Joy & Hope

on May 30, 2026
Hope and joy are gifts we receive from the Lord. They are gifts with eternal value, available to us no matter our circumstances. They are there for us to receive freely when we look for God’s extended hand, offering these precious gifts to us. The prophet Habakkuk saw God’s extended hand when he was confronted with the violence and turmoil around him. When he saw the devastation that had brought harm to his people. He says in Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NLT), “Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty,  yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!”

The Art of Thriving – Fruitless Distractions

The Art of Thriving – Fruitless Distractions

on May 29, 2026
We all consciously or unconsciously allow “little foxes” into our lives that hinder our relationship with the Lord Jesus, preventing us from staying in the vine. These “little foxes” can be distractions that we allow into our lives. We live in a world where distractions seem to call out to us in every conceivable arena of life. And we humans have these natural “antennas” that easily tune in to their frequencies. Once we’re tuned in, we will justify their importance. We might think or say things like, “But I need these distractions after a long day at work. I need to relax after fighting with the kids, trying to get them to bed. I need to silence the voices in my mind that replay the frustrating events of the day.” We feel that we are entitled to these distractions, therefore we don’t need to exercise any form of self-control. But these distractions are the “little foxes” that will slowly choke our spiritual life and prevent us from thriving. Our branch that should be firmly attached to Jesus, our vine, will become battered and bruised, so that we are unable to receive the nourishment that we need through the reading of the Word and prayer. It will prevent us from being empowered by Holy Spirit to exercise an important fruit of the Spirit: self-control.

No Good Thing Will God Withhold From You

No Good Thing Will God Withhold From You

on May 28, 2026
There will be times in our lives when our prayers are not answered as we would like. We may, at that moment, succumb to disappointment and disillusionment. We may even be mad at God and feel rejected by Him. But God, who is in control of the universe, is also in control of our lives. So we can trust Him because we are fully known by our creator God (1 Corinthians 13:12). We can trust Him because we are fully loved by Him with an eternal love that He lavishes upon us (1 John 3:1).

Wisdom and discernment – What do we say?

Wisdom and discernment – What do we say?

on Apr 30, 2026
We can set a guard over our mouths when we trust God’s wisdom and discernment to lead us and empower us through His Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth. The Spirit of truth, John 14:17 says, lives within us. When we are sensitive to Holy Spirit, we produce the fruit of the Spirit - patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control, which helps us refrain from gossip and slander.

Wisdom and Discernment – What Do We Believe?

on Apr 29, 2026
We have all had experiences with rumours and gossip in some shape or form in our lives. We’ve either heard gossip from others, been the target of gossip, or we, ourselves, have been the source of gossip. When we hear gossip from others, we have a choice to either take it at face value and believe them, or we could say, “Hang on a minute. Is this really true? Could it be that the proverbial gnat is being magnified to the size of a camel?”

Wisdom and Discernment - The Source

on Apr 28, 2026
The wisdom of the Lord brings joy because we know that it brings life. The abundant life that He has for us so that we are not just “good people,” but people who fear Him, who worship Him, which Proverbs 9:10 says is the beginning of wisdom.

Satan’s Schemes – God’s Power Unleashed

Satan’s Schemes – God’s Power Unleashed

on Apr 27, 2026
There’s only one power in the world great enough to help us rise above the difficult things we face: the power of God. Stormie Omartian We are bombarded daily with words that others speak into and over our lives. Some may be negative words that say, “You can’t, you don’t have it in you, you won’t, you never will.” These words are declarations of failure and negatively impact our well-being. These are schemes Satan uses to impact our self-worth so that we are left paralysed, unable to move forward with our lives. Unable to move into the promises that God has for us. This is how Moses felt when God called him to bring His people out of the dark bondage of slavery to the freedom He so longed for them to have. Moses, stripped of his royal status and wealth, had hit rock bottom and was tending another man’s flock when God miraculously appeared to him in the burning bush and gave Him the instruction to save his people from the oppression of the Egyptians. His first response to God was, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”(Exodus 3:11). Moses’ first response was to look to himself, to His human abilities. He did this at the very moment he witnessed God’s incredible power being unleashed through the burning bush. In that moment, Moses succumbed to Satan’s schemes that say, “You can’t, you don’t have it in you, you won’t, you never will.” The Great I Am God understood Moses’ fear and immediately assured him that He, “I Am”, Yahweh, would be with him (Exodus 3:12). “I Am”, the eternal creator of the universe, who holds the power to create and the power to deliver us from Satan’s schemes, would be with him. He understood that this was a promise from Yahweh and had existed long before his ancestors found themselves in Egypt. This removed all doubt from Moses' mind that the great I Am, would fulfil His promises. When Moses trusted God and not his own abilities, he saw His power unleashed, destroying Satan’s schemes. He saw the Red Sea part. He saw God’s miraculous provision in the desert. He saw water pouring out of a rock and many other miracles. Yahweh, the God that Moses trusted, is the same God who is able to unleash His power over every dark situation in our lives caused by Satan’s schemes. Moses, who once doubted, believed God’s magnificent power before he saw it made manifest in the natural. The same power that Moses witnessed is available to us. Let’s believe God to unleash His awesome power as we pray for our impossible situations. For the negative thought patterns that have left us paralysed, unable to move forward. For our negative self-image. God can turn the negative thoughts that swirl around in our minds into His words over us - “I, Yahweh, am the great I Am. Nothing is too hard for Me.” ‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. Jeremiah 32:17   Reflection  Have the negative words that Satan has planted in your mind caused you to doubt that God is able to unleash His power over your life so that you can move forward into the promises He has for you? Will you take God at His word when He says, “Nothing is too hard for me?” Prayer Dear Lord, I give You the negative thoughts that are impacting my mind. Deliver me from Satan’s schemes that are preventing me from moving forward with my life. Help me to believe that You are able to unleash Your power over my situation and break through the doubt in my mind. Help me to believe that nothing is too difficult for You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Peter – Rock or Renegade?

Peter – Rock or Renegade?

on Mar 31, 2026
There may have been events in our own lives that have caused us to deny Jesus. We may have faced others who don’t believe in Jesus or believe in the existence of a creator God. Our fear of what they will think of us or how they will treat us may have caused us to be silent about our belief in Jesus Christ or even deny that we are believers in Christ.

Freedom in Forgiveness

Freedom in Forgiveness

on Feb 28, 2026
When we are faced with suffering and hardship, we may find it difficult to let go and forgive. But when we allow our Saviour, Jesus Christ, to work through us, when we look to Jesus and give our despair, anger and resentment to Him, when we pile our burdens on Him, He will give us the strength to extend grace and mercy and to forgive those who have harmed us.

Seeking the Face of God

Seeking the Face of God

on Feb 25, 2026
When we seek God’s face, we come with a repentant and humble heart. We seek His forgiveness and ask Him to cleanse us from things we have done that go against His Word and His will for our lives. We ask Him, as David did, to “remove our transgressions from us and to create in us a clean heart” (Psalm 51:1-11).
