Such Knowledge is Too Wonderful For Me
Share
Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendour and majesty. Psalm 104:1 (NIV)
We will continue using the amazing verses in Psalm 139. Today we will look at verses 5-12. These verses talk about our Heavenly Father’s omnipresence. His presence is always with us as He watches over us. He is with us, holding us by His righteous right hand. He is with us, shining His light in our darkest moments.
Psalm 139:5-6 (NIV)
You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
These verses assure us of God’s constant presence. He is with us right now and will go before us. He guides us by His Holy Spirit along the righteous path He has for us so that His plans for our lives will come to fruition. But His presence was also with us in our past. When we look back on our lives, we can see God’s hand upon our lives. So no matter where we find ourselves at this present moment–in a space where we are experiencing hardship, sickness, lack or on the mountaintop–God is there with us. His loving hand of grace is upon us. David responds to this by exclaiming, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me!” This ought to be our response when we realise that God is omnipresent - omnipresent in majesty and splendour (Psalm 104:1).
Proclaim & Pray:
Thank You, Father, that You hem me in behind and before. I pray for the absolute assurance that You are always with me. Thank You, Father, that You lay Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain! Lord, I am in awe of Your presence. In awe of Your majesty and splendour.
Psalm 139:7-12 (NIV)
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
These verses reiterate the fact that no matter where we find ourselves, He will guide us with His loving hand. His righteous right hand will strengthen us as He holds us fast (Isaiah 41:10). He holds us fast in our darkest hour. He who wraps Himself in light will surely shine His light in our darkness (Psalm 104:2).
Proclaim & Pray:
Father, where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? Thank You that no matter where I find myself, You are there to guide me with Your loving hand. Your right hand holds me fast. Thank You, Father, that darkness is as light to You. In Your splendour and majesty, penetrate through the darkness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent. Psalm 104:2 (NIV)
