Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness. Psalm 145:3 (NLT)
Do you sometimes have difficulty finding words to praise the Lord? I find the Psalms helpful in leading me into praise of God. For our Proclaim & Pray devotional today, we will look at some verses from Psalm 145. This Psalm is rich in gratitude and praise to God, so in our Proclaim & Pray we will also include praise. The psalmist uses different words to express his praise – praise, bless, exalt, give thanks, proclaim, sing joyfully. So let us sing for joy as we praise the Lord with the words from this wonderful song of praise written by David, who praised God not only with his words, but also with his music.
Psalm 145: 4-7 (NLT)
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendour and your wonderful miracles. Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness. Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness.
These verses speak about proclaiming His awe-inspiring deeds and power from generation to generation, proclaiming who He is- His greatness, goodness, kindness, and righteousness. They speak about meditating on God’s majestic splendour and His wonderful miracles.
Proclaim & Praise:
I proclaim Your power and Your mighty acts to this generation. I meditate on Your majestic, glorious splendour and Your wonderful miracles. Your awe-inspiring deeds are on my tongue. I proclaim Your greatness. I sing with joy about Your righteousness.
Psalm 145:1-3 (NLT)
I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever. I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness.
Proclaim & Praise:
I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever. I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. Great are You, Lord! You are most worthy of praise. No one can measure Your greatness.
Verses 13-20 speak of the Lord keeping His promises, raising up those who feel the weight of their burdens. They speak of Him opening His hand and providing in due season. The Lord, the psalmist says, is near to all who call on Him in truth. He will hear their cry and save them. He will protect all who love Him (Psalm 145:13-20)
Proclaim & Pray:
Thank You, Lord, that You always keep Your promises. You are gracious in all You do. You help me when I fall. You lift me when I am bent beneath my load. My eyes look to You in hope. You give me food when I need it. Open Your hand and satisfy my hunger and my thirst. Thank You for being righteous in all You do. Thank You for Your kindness. Be close to me, Lord, as I call upon You in truth. Grant my desires as I look to You in reverent awe. Hear my cry for help; protect and rescue me. I praise You, Lord. I bless Your holy name forever and ever.
If Christ lives in us, we will rejoice in everything, and we will thank and praise the Lord. We will say, 'Hallelujah! Praise the Lord' forever. Watchman Nee
