God is in Control

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17 (NIV)
Daniel’s heart is filled with praise to His God, the Revealer of Secrets. His God, whom he knew would come through for him. His God who has the power to change the times and the seasons, to change world events. To remove kings and to set up kings (Daniel 2:21). Daniel is in awe of His God and the dream. He goes to find Arioch, who quickly escorts him to the king. The king can scarcely believe his ears when Arioch brings him the news, “I have found a man of the captives of Judah, who will make known to the king the interpretation.” Daniel 2:25 (NKJV)
Daniel enters the king's presence with confidence. The king sees that the man before him is a humble man who reveres His God. A man who has been in the presence of the King of kings. A trustworthy man. The king is no longer agitated. He has confidence in the man who stands before him. Daniel opens his mouth to speak. He makes it clear that the secret has been revealed to him not because he has more wisdom than anyone else, but because His God has deemed it important that the king understands the thoughts of his heart.
There is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days.” Daniel 2:28 (NKJV)
Then Daniel tells the king his dream. The king is awestruck at the accuracy of Daniel’s account of his dream. He is awestruck at his insightful and wise interpretation. He falls on his face, prostrate before Daniel and says,
“Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret.” Daniel 2:47 (NKJV)
He Holds All Things Together
Not many of us will receive this kind of revelation from God. Revelation that will have great significance and give insight into events that will shape the future. But these events that happened more than 2700 years ago tell us that God stands above time. He is in control of everything that happens in the world. He has control over the course of history. He has the power to remove those in authority and set up new leaders.
This assures us that whatever happens in our lives, we need not be afraid. He is in control. We need not fear the chaos and polarisation in the world. We need not fear the future when our leaders, bosses, mayors, presidents abuse their power. Our God, who placed them there, has the power to remove them. Let us trust our omnipotent God, as Daniel did. He holds all things together and knows the beginning from the end.
God is bigger than time, dates, and appointments. He wants you to move through this day with a quiet heart, an inward assurance that He is in control. Roy Lessin
Reflection:
Will you trust God with your situation? Know that He is in control.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that nothing I am going through at this moment has escaped Your attention. I give You the chaos in my life that I have no control over. You hold everything in this universe together. I trust You to hold everything in my life in Your loving hand. In Jesus’ name, amen.
