The Lord High and Exalted

Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11 (NKJV)

I find the supernatural encounters the Old Testament prophets had with God fascinating. One of them is Isaiah’s vision of the Lord seated on His majestic throne.

The vision that unfolds before Isaiah in Isaiah 6 is one that we, with our finite minds, cannot comprehend because it transcends the natural realm. Let’s look at the scene with Isaiah. As the scene opens, Isaiah’s gaze moves upwards. He is overwhelmed as he sees God seated on His lofty throne. He sees God high and lifted up. Isaiah’s gaze shifts to His robe—a magnificent robe with a train so expansive and glorious that it fills the temple. 

He sees the exalted One attended by those in the throne room. He sees them covering their faces and their feet with their wings. He watches as they cry out in adoration and awe of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. They cry out holy, holy, holy! They declare, “The whole earth is filled with his glory!” As they declare, it would seem as if the glory of heaven touches earth.

Exalted Above Every Other God

This awesome vision compels us to worship God. To worship the King, the Lord of Heaven's Armies. To declare that He is indeed highly exalted. To declare that His is above all things in heaven and on earth. Above all the gods of this world.

For You, Lord, are most high above all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods. Psalm 97:9 (NKJV)

God is indeed forever exalted above every other god. This is the God the psalmists appealed to when they called out to God for deliverance. They appealed to Him to deliver them so that those around them, their enemies, would see that He is mightier, more powerful, more glorious than any other god.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth. That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and hear me. Psalm 108:5-6

When we appeal to God to be exalted and save us in our time of trouble, we declare that He is mighty and powerful. We declare that we will not fear or be discouraged because He will rescue us with His victorious right hand (Isaiah 41:10). Let us exalt the Lord. Let us declare His greatness and see His hand of love and mercy move in our time of need.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.1 Chronicles 29:11 (NLT)

Will you surrender your fears and discouragement to God and allow Him to be exalted in your situation?

Prayer:

Lord, I declare that Yours is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory and the majesty. I surrender my fears, anxiety and discouragement to You. Be exalted, Lord and rescue me from my struggles. In Jesus’ name, amen.
