Faith - Open Our Eyes To See Jesus
Share
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
When we believe that Christ has extended His grace to us by dying on the cross so that we can be forgiven and set free, we are saved. We receive this gift of salvation through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). It has been freely given to us. Faith in God is the confidence we have in something we cannot yet see, because we have the assurance that we will see it come to fruition (Hebrews 11:1). We can therefore look at our situation not through our own natural lens, but through God’s divine, spiritual lens.
What Gives Us this Confident Faith in God?
Our confidence comes from knowing that He is true to His Word. Numbers 23:19 (ESV) says,
“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfil it?”
So we can be confident that He is true to His promises (2 Corinthians 1:20). All God’s promises find their fulfilment in Jesus. When our eyes are opened to see who Jesus is and what He’s done for us, we know that our faith in Him is not in vain. He is our:
King of Kings who has authority and victory over all earthly kingdoms (Revelation 17:14)
Wonderful Counsellor and Prince of Peace who carries our burdens (Isaiah 9:6).
Bread of Life who sustains us and satisfies our souls’ deepest longings. John 6:35
Good Shepherd who laid down His life for us and gives us abundant life in Him (John 10:11).
Immanuel, our God who is always with us (Matthew 1:23).
These are just a few of the attributes of Jesus that give us the deep and irrevocable assurance that we can do all things through Him. It gives us the faith to believe He will move heaven and earth to save us because nothing is impossible with Him.
“I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” Matthew 17:20 (NLT)
